1st April 2006 I read all the articles on your site, of course, but I was particularly interested in the one about what genuine faience looks like inside. I even bought an ushabti fragment from Rolf partly so I could have a closer look. Anyway, I couldn't help noticing that one of kingofdesert's latest offerings shows what NOT to look for in his own listing!
Here are some images of cross sections from genuine faience objects.
It's not as straight forward as this of course. These are just one way an efflorescent generated faience glaze can appear in compostion pieces. But it gets across the message with this particular forgery.....even though on the outside it never looked right anyway.
