A fragment from a very large Ur III administrative tablet with cuneiform writing on both sides 21st/20th century BC
150mm x 65mm
It is a list of names, some with patronymics, for example:
A-a-kal-la Lugal-nig2-lagar-e Ab-ba-mu Ur-Shul-pa-e3 Lu2-Shara son of Lugal-iti-da
…with a number (often 1 1/3, sometimes 2 ˝, sometimes 5) .
The actual item to which the number refers is in the missing part of the tablet, but it would necessarily be a counted (not measured) item such as man-days of labor, persons, animals or wool.
7.36 (c) A substantial corner fragment of an very well written and crisply preserved, probably URIII tablet, measuring 75 mm x 75 mm and with a further two fragmentary lines on the reverse.
7.35 (L) Not available. A very large fragment from what must have been an enormous UR III administrative tablet, with cuneiform on both sides though parts have been very much rubbed away as you can see. 125mm x 125mm x 40mm
8.9.(6) Not available. A good UR III tablet in envelope bearing multiple sealing impressions on all four sides as well as obverse and reverse. A receipt for 8 kor of barley by Puzur Mama from Shu-Ninshubur. The sealings are those of Puzur Mama son of ?X (unreadable) ..merchant. 53 mm x 43 mm
