  • Ultimately the difference between a copy/replica/reproduction and a fake or forgery is the intention to deceive.

  • These fairly nicely made reproductions, some rather better than others, are being offered on eBay by a few sellers perfectly honestly as "reproductions".

  • However, some will reappear sooner or later pretending to be genuine. So it's worthwhile documenting some of them.
  • Notice how fairly convincingly they corrode iron. Also note a characteristic white speckling on some from a specific factory.












As I was asked about this piece, luckily before the collector considered  bidding on it, this type is  worth documenting also.
