Some of the pieces on the market are genuine but heavily restored with perhaps  the upper part or just the head being original, most however are highly likely to be entirely fake.

 

 



Bear in mind that the majority of such terracottas are found in fragmentary form.

It is usefully instructive to see what archaeologically attested examples look like.

These below are the only two complete figurines found at Selenkahiye.



Bitumen was used to repair them sometimes.
