Galdiator and military motifs are rarely found on this series of lamps from Roman North Africa but here is a very nice one. This appears to be soldier not a gladaitor.**

Intact bar the surface chip on one side of the handle.


Roman North Africa circa late 4th century.

I believe that the image depicted on this lamp is that of a venator. Note also the guards at the tip of the spear to prevent an animal's advance on to his attacker past the point of the spear.
