An exceptionally fine and highly decorative Pre Urartian
painted jar.

Biconical with ring foot and slightly everted rim. The
decoration in black and reddish brown slip on a cream ground.  

Panels with chequer-board lozenges, zig-zags and vertical
bands and main panel with long necked  birds,five above and another thirteen below. 

335mm - 13.25 inches.

Superb surface condition.

Recomposed  from several large fragments with
some areas of restoration on the under-side;but expertly done and only left visible on the
underneath and inside.  

Pre-Uratian, Mid 2nd millennium BC
