This is a type of faience amulet that was never actually glazed but rather painted.

There are remnants of the paint on on the face and some reddish brown paint elsewhere as shown.



It shows an ithyphallic young man wearing the sidelock of youth and holding a tambourine inter alia.





It was probably not mould made but actually carved in the faience paste after it had dried but before firing.



50mm.



Has a stable crack running around it from base to sides. Not coming apart though.



Egyptian Late Period/Ptolemaic.
