An Egyptianizing Bulla from the time of the Kings of Judah

Egyptianizing bulla with what appears to be a vulture (or less likely a falcon) deity (with outstretched wings) over a kneeling monarch flanked by protective Horus falcons.

A similar bulla was excavated at the City of David in Jerusalem during the last decade near the Gihon spring. The latter was found together with another 180+ bullae and pottery from the Iron Age IIA and B periods underneath a house from the time of king Hezekiah (726-697 BC).

These bullae are believed to have sealed Jerusalem correspondence between ca. 800-750 BC, i.e. the time of King Uzziah of Judah.

The bulla was bought in Jerusalem and may indeed have been found in Jerusalem also.

Perfect condition.
Imprints of papyrus and string are still visible on the back.

1.7 x 1.7 cm.
