A really attractive fragmentary bronze of Zeus/Jupiter wearing a
laurel wreath in one of his typical poses imitating Jupiter the
Thunderer of the Capitoline, which in its case imitated the famous
sculpture of Zeus by the Athenian sculptor Leochares. In one hand he
would have held a thunderbolt, an eagle, or a patera; the other most
probably to hold a scepter.

Nice detailing for the size and a nice dark patina.

Well mounted on a polished metal stand.

39mm . 63mm overall :

Roman, 1st-2nd century

Price: 435 GBP
