A lovely bronze handle showing Herakles with the Erymanthian Boar over his left shoulder and his club in his right hand swung back.

He wears the full lion skin and you can see the upper jaw and lion's face above his head.

Lovely sense of movement and an altogether very bold bronze piece.

95mm / 3 75 inches.

From an old UK collection. Has been cleaned.

Said to have been found in Italy.

Circa 2nd century.

The fourth labour of Herakles was to capture, without killing, the Erymanthian Boar. Herakles used the boar to terrify Eurystheus, the king of Mycenae who is the person one who assigned Herakles his tasks.

Price: 535 GBP
