YOU ARE HERE:>>Fake cuneiform, section 3, page 4

This seller on eBay offers just a few genuine items (Roman glass bottles and Islamic pottery ) but most of the things here are fairly well made fakes. All the supposedly 'Sumerian' artefacts are forgeries: some copied from pieces in museums, mostly from the Louvre Museum. These include limestome figurines, plaques, cylinder seals and so on. All very defintely faked, some better than others.

Here are some of the (rather expensive) fake cuneiform tablets he has sold.

This seller offers many other fakes often copied  from pieces in museums.

From the same seller, here showing how little he understands cuneiform writing as he happily shows this one upside down!

But when one flips the image top to bottom one sees that it is still horizontally reversed!

This inscription has been copied from a reversed  imprint  of the text!

This  is the text called 'Nebuchadnezzar 41'.

It is the commonest inscription found on Nebuchanezzar bricks

The inscription transliteration reads :

Which translated is:
Nebuchadnezzar II, king of Babylon, who cares for (zanin), Esagila and Ezida.

King Nebuchadnezzar II (reigned 604 BC  - 562BC) rebuilt the city of Babylon  on a very grand scale and  a
s many as 15 million bricks were used to make palaces, temples and grand city walls.

And another!!   Here, with this fake, they have the inscription correctly oriented.

The bricks with this particular inscription are of two sizes: complete full sized bricks 34/31 x 33.5/26.5 x 9/4.5 cm and what are called "half bricks" in the range  34/33 x 16.5 x 9/8 cm.

But none are as small as the example offered by this seller.

Should be as large as this one....
