No impersonal 'shopping basket' system here. I prefer to do all this personally by email.

ALSO  PLEASE NOTE

There are hardly any items for sale beyond page 29 on the gallery here.

I have left so many sold items on show (and in the sold archive) as many collectors have said they find such photos and information useful to have.

6165. Private name scarab seal: The Royal Seal Bearer and High Steward, Amenemhat Si-Satet

I'm offering a few very interesting private name scarabs from my own collection. These types of scarab which bore the name and titles of important administrators were made and used in the Middle Kingdom and Second Intermediate Period.

This one  is inscribed The Royal Seal Bearer and High Steward, Amenemhat Si-Satet
It is 18mm. long.
The name means "Amenemhat, child of Satet," it  suggests that this person was at "Ibw", now called Elephantine an important island on the Nile , the administaitive centre of ancient Egypt's southernmost province ; Satet was the local deity of Elephantine. It is dated tio the late Middle Kingdom/very early Second Intermediate Period.
A  Royal Seal Bearer (also known as the Royal Sealer) was a high-ranking
official who bore the royal seal and acted as a representative of the
Pharaoh. A
High Steward (or Chief Steward) was responsible for the management and
administration of a specific royal estate. The two titles were fairly frequently held by the same person.
Unfortunately nothing else is known about this person and this scarab is not recorded anywhere else as far as I know.
